Award Winner at Jackson Hole Design Conference
From September 9th through the 11th, 3 Feathers Flutes was honored to be a participant in the 19th annual Western Design Conference held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We were one of the 114 chosen artists out of over 250 submissions for the show. The amount of talent that was at this show is hard to describe as most of these artists are at the top of their game. 3 Feathers Flutes submitted our entry in the Juried portion of the show for the first time ever. We were blessed with, in our eyes, the most prestigious of the awards a Native American Flute Maker could have won. We brought home the Blue Ribbon - the Sonny Tuttle Spirit Award! We will post something about Sonny Tuttle and his life in a future update but for us this was a great honor.
Our entry and acceptance into this show would have been enough for us to talk about. But to have been selected from other phenomenal artists and selected for this award left us almost without words. We knew Sonny and he is directly responsible for much our connection to the Native American community here in Wyoming and Montana. It is our hope that as time goes on we will be able to represent this award with the honor and dignity that one can as this represents the life of a dearly loved Lakota Sioux father, traditional hide painter, pow wow dancer, warrior (Korea) and local celebrity.

Western Design Conference Entry
We are excited to announce that we entered some of our hand crafted flutes into the Western Design Conference that was held here in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this past summer at the Pavilion at Snow King Resort. We entered one of our best flutes for the Juried portion of the conference as well a selection of other finely crafted flutes for visitors to look at.
Timothy Jennings, artist, was at the conference all three days to personally visit with those who had questions about our flutes. Also Brock Jennings was present to help demonstrate how the flute is played and demo some of the flutes we had at the conference. All flutes that were at the show were for sale. This was our first entry into a show like this and we are excited to be a participant.
The Western Design Conference is hosted by Teton Home and Living magazine which brings together crafts people, scholars, collectors, interior designers, architects and fashion designers with an interest in the West. If you are planning to be in Jackson Hole during these dates try and stop buy. The show is usually full of all kinds of cool things.

The Western Design Conference Begins Tomorrow...
Today, September 8th we started moving in some of our flutes for the start of the Western Design Conference to begin Friday morning. There could not be a more beautiful spot to have the conference than right here at the base of Snow King Ski Resort here in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. For several months we have been working on 14 special flutes that we will showcase in the juried portion of the show. This is our first time we have displayed our flutes to the public in this way. We are excited and look forward to visiting with people from all of the country as they visit the conference over this weekend. We hope to engage people in conversation about our flutes and hope we can introduce many new people to the wonderful healing sound that the Native American Flute brings. All of our flutes being showcased have been hand crafted and all the flute bores and windways were carved by hand as well. Truly made in traditional ways.
Tonight we join others in the Western Design Conference Gala and Fashion Show to be held at the Snow King Resort. This should be a really nice evening and we are looking forward to meeting other artists and vendors that have come a long way to participate. Getting set up was relatively easy for us as we had our juried pieces all pre-assembled and ready to go. Tomorrow we start our day at 9:00am and the show starts at 10:am MST. Over the next few weeks Jackson Hole becomes quite the place for art and all of our galleries here in town. The Fall Art Festival offers a wonderful time here in the Rockies. If you are a lover of art and want a very special week then these next few weeks are a good time to visit Jackson Hole.
Visitors will be able to purchase any one of the flutes we will have on site as well as being able to order a custom made flute based on their wants and desires. All of our flutes at the show are gallery quality and for sure they are functional art as each flute plays beautifully and is hand tuned to the key that the wood cries out for. We are featuring several different species of wood, all native to North America. We do not use exotics in our flutes.
New to our line up is our Chakra flute that features all seven colors that represent the seven centers of spiritual energy in the human body. This new flute is made from Old Growth Walnut and has seven cabochons inlayed into the body of the flute. These seven stones are Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. The fetish on this flute is of a sleek design and we have tuned this flute to the Key of E at 432Hz which is considered to be a true pitch. It is believed that an instrument that is tuned to 432Hz has profound positive effects on consciousness and also on the cellular levels of the body. This Chakra flute is made with the love and attention as all of our Native American styled flutes and like our others this flute plays beautifully and at 432Hz this flute will sooth your soul for sure. If you are in the neighborhood - come see us!
Native American Pipes
Some of the pipes you will find on our site are hand made by Native Americans while others are made in the same traditional way but have been made by non-native artists. Our premier artist is Donovan Archambault, an Assiniboine elder from Montana has been making ceremonial pipes from many years. People all over the county covet his hand made pipes - all from sacred pipe stone that is hand quarried by him in Pipe stone Minnesota. Finding hand made pipe of this quality is not an easy task. Check out our pipes.
Native American Styled Flutes
Our Native American styled flutes are hand crafted by use using only woods that are native to North America. Every flute you find on our website have been made by hand using mostly hand tools. Each flute represents many hours of labor and no two flutes are the same. Each flute is individually tuned using an electronic chromatic tuner. We hand finished each flute to a high quality hand rubbed look and feel and decorated using combinations of deer leathers, decorative stones, feathers, horse hair and more. If you have ever wanted to own a truly hand made Native American styled flute then check out our selection. Click here for more information.
Gallery Quality
Each of our hand crafted flutes are Gallery Quality. Attention to detail is the rule of the day and each flute is individually scrutinized during the entire crafting process as to render the best possible product when finished. It is important to note that these are not production flutes. No two flutes are the same even when they come from the same wood source. Choosing one of our 3 Feathers Flutes depends entirely on what you are looking for. All of our flutes will look good as an accent piece in your home or office. In addition to looking good they play very well. Whether you are looking for a piece to add to your Native American collection or if you are a flute enthusiast and love playing this wonderful wind instrument we are confident that our flutes will meet or exceed your expectations.
Music Artists
New to Teton Marketing is the addition of some of today's newest Musical Artists making their way to the stage. Many of today's new artists are able to bring their music direct to the consumer using many of the latest technologies specific to the music industry. These talented singer song writers can now offer their products direct to the consumer in ways not available to them before. Click here to see one of our artists we represent.
Companies like ITunes, CD Baby, Garage Band and others offer effective distribution channels for the small startup individual or musical group. We want to showcase and add additional opportunities to these artist but at a reduced cost. Commissions on individual sales of CDs and downloads of individual songs can cut a large swath in the net proceeds to the new artist.
