When we started building flutes we did so with the intent of building a better quality flute for our son Brock. Brock is a very accomplished NAF player and has recorded many songs alone and with other Native American Artists. Brock was seeking a more flexible and easier flute to play. The end result was that all of the flutes we have been making until now have been crafted completely by hand. Every component was done by hand with hand tools including carving the bore of the flute. Needless to say the man hours grow fast for each flute we make.
Because of the extensive amount of man hours that goes into each hand crafted flute we price them as fair as possible considering the craftsmanship. So many people have found our flutes not only to be beautiful works of art but very nice playing flutes as well. But for many the price points are too high. People continue to ask for a flute that is a little less expensive while maintaining the hand crafted qualities. We think we have acheived this and we are about to release a series of new flutes that we are calling our semi-production models.
For these flutes we will not be hand carving the flute bores or windway areas as we do now. These flutes will be a recipe of both machined and hand crafted components. The attention to detail will be the same as it is on our completely hand crafted flutes. We are looking to set the price point in the $210 - $325 range depending on woods used, complexity of the fetish, leather accents, and any stone work. If you are interested in one of our new semi-production flutes email us at sales@tetonmarketing.com and reserve one now.
We will continue to make our hand crafted flutes for those who are looking for gallery quality instruments. These higher end flutes are truly "functional art". We will also still take orders for custom flutes for those who want something they can call their own.
