Building your own flute is a journey for everyone who has the ability to use their hands. The Native American Flute is one of the most pleasant sounding wind instruments to play and one that anyone who has the interest and desire to plan can learn. Building your own flute whether it be for personal statisfaction or because you want to build them and sell them to the public is truly a satisfying project. Not everyone one has the space, time or money to have a workshop that allows you to create the supplies you will need to build your own flute.

After building a multitude of flutes and requests from hobbiests and others we have are making available some of the basic supplies you will need to craft your own flute. Because we build so many flutes we have the ability to share with you some of our stock from which we use to craft our "3 Feathers Flutes" and our new line of "307 Flutes". All of the wood we use is indiginous to North America, NO EXOTICS, and the leather accents we craft on our flutes come from hand selected Buffalo and Elk hides. Save yourself some time, money and space by ordering from Teton Marketing just what you need for your next flute project.

Flute Blanks For Sale

NAF Flute BlanksBuild Your Own Flute...

At 3 Feathers Flutes we have decided to make available to those of you who are looking to build your own Native American Flute some of the basic flute supplies.  In an earlier post we mentioned that you can now order leather lace for your flute fetishes or accents in both Buffalo and Elk.  Currently available by the foot and in three colors, buckskin, chocolate brown, and black.

Now we are making available flute blanks when available inventory permits.  These blanks will be available in one of three options.  Just the blanks themselves or blanks that have the flute bore, slow air chambers and blow holes already crafted into the blanks.  Each set of flute blanks will be in pairs that are matched as much as possible.  Depending on how much of the work you want to do yourself you choose which option meets your needs.

Option One:

If you are looking to build your flute from the ground up order one of our basic blank sets.  Each of these blanks measure 1.75" wide, 30" long, 7/8" thick.  They will be planed smooth prior to shipping ready for you to build your flute.  If you do not have the equipment to cut your blanks from rough stock this is a simple, easy and cost effective way to start.  If you need help laying out your flute shoot us an email at sales@tetonmarketing.com.  These blanks start at $15.00 plus shipping per set depending on the wood selected.

Important note: We spend alot of money and time seeking very nice wood stocks for our flutes. Most of our wood comes direct from smaller mills and specialty suppliers. Because of our specs our wood stock lots come in smaller amounts as many times that is all there is for at any given moment in time.

Option Two:

The second option is to order a set of blanks that have had the slow air chamber, flute bore and the blow hole already crafted for you.  These blanks are of the same dimension as Option One above.  The flute bore is available in 3/4", 7/8" and 1" diameters.  The flute bore goes all the way through the bottom of the blanks and you will determine where to trim it depending on the key desired and your design.   This is a great option if you choose not to hand carve your flute and if you do not have a proper jig for your router to create the inside of your flute.  If you need help laying out your flute shoot us an email at sales@tetonmarketing.com.  These blanks start at $39.00 plus shipping per set depending on the wood selected.

Option Three:

The third option is for a set of blanks that will be enhanced from Option Two above in that we can create the basis for the focusing channel and if desired we can also craft the majority of the windway for you.   We can also create a channel for you to inlay your splitting edge.  This is a good option for softer woods and the inlay can be of a harder wood such as walnut or ironwood.  However you will still be responsible for the fine tuning of the sound hole itself.  Again, if you need help laying out your flute shoot us an email at sales@tetonmarketing.com.

NAF Flute BlanksWeather you are a hobbiest or an accomplished Native American Flute builder, ordering one our flute blank sets can simplify getting started on building you flute right away.  The need for larger equipment is eliminated and you will save time, money and space in your workshop.
